Picture a group of people who are used to being looked down on and marginalised by society. They all come from different backgrounds, different beliefs and different cultures, but they have one thing in common: they all know what it’s like to be homeless.
Now picture the same folk, smartly dressed, smiling and taking a bow in front of a big screen. The audience rises to their feet in a standing ovation, filled with a fresh understanding of the issues faced by the homeless. The actors leave the stage with new self-esteem, justifiably proud of what they have achieved together.
That is our vision. Giving invisible people a profile and a voice.
To create a sense of purpose and community amongst homeless people.
To improve the quality of lives, building confidence and self-esteem.
To share their stories with a wider audience, on screen or stage.
To stimulate a fresh understanding of the issues involved in homelessness.
To develop the acting skills of people with experience of homelessness.
To mentor and advise those who wish to pursue an acting career.
To pass on the process to other creative people nationally, so that it can continue around the country in any format people want.
To educate young people in schools about homeless issues as part of their citizenship and PSHE curriculum.
